Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations in accordance with internal and external banking guidelines. This role ensures accurate cash handling, daily reconciliation, and provides courteous service to customers at the branch.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedule and maintain appropriate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reporting, and vault management in coordination with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Interact with customers, identify cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling or teller operations within a banking environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile daily cash transactions.
• Good communication skills and a customer‑service orientation.
• Knowledge of banking regulations and internal cash‑management procedures.
