Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role supports smooth branch functioning by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments, while providing courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other cash instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, reconcile transactions, and prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, cross‑sell products, and promote use of alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for all cashier operations.

• Understanding of banking procedures and compliance requirements.
