Backend Developer – PHP/CodeIgniter & Unity Integration

About the role

Kico is a fast‑paced startup building enterprise management applications. We are looking for a hands‑on Backend Developer who will own the backend infrastructure, data pipelines and client integrations, especially with Unity Engine clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain end‑to‑end operational pipelines, state‑machine transitions and background job processing.
• Develop low‑latency RESTful APIs and WebSocket layers (Ratchet/Swoole) for real‑time communication with Unity clients.
• Build and optimise modular server‑side business logic using PHP and CodeIgniter (CI3/CI4).
• Design robust MySQL schemas, write high‑performance queries, manage complex joins, indexing and caching.
• Collaborate directly with founding leadership to translate enterprise requirements into production‑ready code.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience with PHP (OOP, session management, security patterns).
• Strong hands‑on experience with CodeIgniter framework.
• Proven track record integrating PHP/MySQL backends with Unity Engine clients (UnityWebRequest, token authentication, real‑time data sync).
• Demonstrated ability to build multi‑step data pipelines and transactional workflows in ERP/CRM‑type systems.
