Avionics Lead Engineer

About the role

Airbus India is seeking an experienced Avionics Lead Engineer to drive the design, development, verification and validation of safety‑critical real‑time embedded software for helicopter avionics. The role is based in the Bangalore area and focuses on delivering software that complies with DO‑178B/C standards for Airbus Helicopters.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop avionics software modules and define interface requirement specifications.
• Lead requirement engineering activities, gathering system requirements and documenting software requirements.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve technical issues, including troubleshooting, system testing, simulator testing, flight test, and in‑service issues.
• Perform unit‑level verification, integration testing (software‑software and software‑hardware), and support certification audits.
• Mentor and lead a multidisciplinary team through design, development, testing, and interface activities.

Required profile

• Professional experience in the full software lifecycle for safety‑critical embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of DO‑178B/C standards and avionics certification processes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across teams.
• Quick learner with a commitment to integrity and compliance.

Required skills

• Embedded software requirements engineering and architecture (static and dynamic).
• Module‑level design, interface definition, and algorithm development.
• Embedded programming and unit/integration testing on host and target environments.
• Software configuration management.
• Knowledge of real‑time operating systems (RTOS).
• Familiarity with communication protocols A429 and RS‑422.
• Experience with DO‑178B/C certification standards.
