Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM)

About the role

The Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) will support the Swasthya Setu Mobile Medical Unit in delivering essential maternal and child health services to underserved rural villages of Kanpur Dehat. Working closely with the gynaecologist and medical officer, the ANM will provide clinical assistance, health education, and community coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the gynaecologist/medical officer during clinical consultations and outreach visits.
• Provide nursing and patient‑care support during gynaecological and reproductive health consultations.
• Conduct basic health assessments such as blood pressure, haemoglobin, and blood sugar screening.
• Support patient referrals, follow‑up care, and documentation of records.
• Maintain medicine stock, monitor expiry dates, and assist with distribution during OPDs and health camps.
• Conduct counselling sessions on antenatal care, postnatal care, menstrual and reproductive health, nutrition, and adolescent health.
• Facilitate community awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, anaemia prevention, maternal health, and adolescent health.
• Coordinate with ASHAs, ANMs, PHCs, CHCs, schools, and other stakeholders for referrals and outreach.
• Assist beneficiaries in accessing government health schemes and referral services.

Required profile

• ANM certification from a recognized institution.
• Valid registration with the relevant Nursing Council.
• Good communication and counselling abilities.
• Willingness to travel within project areas.

Required skills

• Basic clinical assessment (BP, haemoglobin, blood sugar screening).
• Patient record keeping and basic documentation.
• Medicine stock management.
