Associate Director – Overhead Line Equipment (OLE)

About the role

WSP is looking for an Associate Director to lead the Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) team within its Rail & Transit business. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality, compliant OLE solutions for Swedish railway and transit projects while coordinating multidisciplinary teams across Sweden, India and other global locations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of OLE design packages through feasibility, concept, detailed and IFC stages.
• Guide preparation and technical review of layout plans, cross‑sections, wire‑run schedules, foundation and mast schedules, clearance studies and loading calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with Swedish Rail (Trafikverket) requirements and relevant EN/IEC standards.
• Apply system‑engineering principles and coordinate OLE designs with track, signalling, telecom, civil and structural disciplines.
• Manage and mentor the OLE team, allocate work, review outputs and develop capability.
• Lead technical discussions, client submissions, design reviews and resolution of comments.
• Drive continuous improvement of design standards, delivery workflows and quality processes.
• Promote professional registrations and ensure compliance with WSP quality, HSE and safe‑by‑design principles.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in railway OLE/electrification design, including team leadership.
• Proven track record delivering mainline rail electrification projects.
• Experience supporting European/Nordic rail projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (master’s or professional certification is a plus).
