Assistant Professor – Civil Engineering (Transportation & GIS)

About the role

UPES Dehradun is seeking an Assistant Professor for its Department of Civil Engineering. The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty team, delivering high‑quality teaching and advancing research in transportation and related domains.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate civil engineering courses.
• Design and continuously update curricula to reflect industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Conduct research, publish in SCI/Scopus‑indexed journals and present at conferences.
• Supervise student projects, theses and dissertations.
• Develop research proposals, consultancy work and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Participate in accreditation, curriculum development and departmental activities.
• Integrate digital tools and data‑driven approaches into teaching and research.

Required profile

• B.Tech./B.E. in Civil Engineering and M.Tech./M.E. in Transportation Engineering.
• Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering or a closely related specialization from a reputed institution.
• Strong teaching, research and communication abilities.
• Demonstrated research potential with publications in reputable journals and conferences.

Required skills

• Transportation, Highway, Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning.
• Surveying, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing.
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) platforms.
• Python programming for engineering applications.
• Artificial Intelligence tools applied to civil engineering.
• MATLAB for modelling, simulation and data analysis.
• GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS and ERDAS Imagine.
