Assistant Operations Manager – First Mile & Logistics

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Assistant Operations Manager to oversee first‑mile logistics, ensuring smooth movement of stock from vendors and manufacturing sites to our warehouses and fulfilment points. The role combines vehicle coordination, shipment tracking, documentation, and expense control while maintaining zero pilferage.

Key responsibilities

• Book and coordinate trucks, tempos and other vehicles for daily stock pickups.
• Plan and manage pickups from vendors and manufacturing locations.
• Coordinate with vendors, drivers, transporters and warehouse teams to guarantee timely delivery.
• Track shipments from pickup to Goods Received Note (GRN) and maintain accurate records of quantities, shortages, damages and returns.
• Investigate discrepancies and ensure minimal pilferage or loss during transit.
• Maintain trip‑wise records of vehicle costs, loading/unloading charges, tolls and other logistics expenses.
• Verify transporter invoices and keep precise logistics expense accounts.
• Negotiate with transporters and vehicle vendors, monitoring performance, delivery TAT and costs.
• Support mid‑mile and courier operations, liaising with courier partners for timely deliveries.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of experience in first‑mile, transportation, warehouse logistics or courier operations.
• Background in FMCG, e‑commerce, quick commerce, courier or distribution preferred.
• Hands‑on attitude with strong ownership of stock reconciliation and cost control.
• Comfortable working on‑ground and solving day‑to‑day logistics challenges.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for record‑keeping and expense management.
