Assistant Manager – Unit Supply Chain

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Unit Supply Chain is responsible for material purchase planning and deployment within the unit. The role ensures timely release of purchase orders, optimal inventory levels and cost reduction while operating within allocated supply constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute material purchases aligned with S&OP, ensuring on‑time PO release and smooth material flow.
• Manage store operations, including receipt, dispatch, FIFO/FEFO compliance and daily inventory accuracy for raw, packaging, finished goods and engineering spares.
• Oversee warehousing efficiency – space planning, capacity forecasting, safety, hygiene and security standards.
• Maintain optimal inventory through controls, reconciliations and minimising stock‑outs or excesses.
• Drive end‑to‑end logistics operations, optimizing procurement, warehousing, dispatch, logistics costs and vendor performance.
• Ensure full compliance with State/Central Excise norms, including record updates, bonding, stock verification and statutory submissions.
• Manage scrap disposal for commercial value and secure transit of inbound/outbound goods.
• Lead budgeting, cost monitoring, MIS reporting and contingency planning for supply chain management.
• Coordinate with sales, planning, packing, vendors, transporters and excise authorities for seamless cross‑functional operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering; Master’s in Production and Operations preferred.
• 4–8 years of experience in purchase, materials control, warehousing or excise compliance.
• Strong knowledge of purchase, materials management and warehousing practices.
• Familiarity with excise regulations and norms.
• Excellent planning, organizing, flexibility and problem‑solving abilities.
