Assistant Manager – Buyer (Electrical & C&I)

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Buyer will support the procurement function for electrical and control & instrumentation (C&I) items, ensuring a robust vendor base, cost‑effective sourcing, and seamless delivery to meet plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance the vendor database for electrical and C&I items and identify items for annual rate contracts.
• Develop indigenous spares through reverse engineering or substitute Chinese parts with Indian or other non‑Chinese equivalents.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers to achieve business outcomes.
• Negotiate optimal costs for mechanical items using manual methods, reverse auctions, and forward auctions.
• Handle floating enquiries, follow‑up with vendors, prepare price comparative statements, and issue purchase orders on schedule.
• Ensure timely delivery of electrical and C&I items and coordinate communication across teams.
• Prepare internal approval documents (NFAs, Change Order Proposals) and support MIS reporting.
• Comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, EnMS, and internal health‑safety guidelines.

Required profile

• BE / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement of electrical/C&I or mechanical items.
• Demonstrated ability to develop vendor relationships and manage cost‑optimization initiatives.
