Applied Science Manager – RBS Tech

About the role

The Applied Science Manager will lead a team of scientists within Amazon's Retail Business Services (RBS) Tech organization. You will design and deploy large‑scale GenAI, NLP, and computer‑vision solutions that improve the customer and selling‑partner experience across Amazon’s product ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Define, prototype, and ship state‑of‑the‑art ML models that address multi‑modal understanding, product similarity, and customer anecdote mining.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team through the full research‑to‑production lifecycle, from exploration to deployment at scale.
• Partner with business and engineering stakeholders to identify high‑impact problems and translate them into scientific initiatives.
• Mentor team members, foster a culture of innovation, and support patent and publication efforts.
• Contribute to product strategy, identify new business opportunities, and provide technical direction.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or PhD in machine learning, statistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience applying ML to large‑scale problems.
• 2+ years of experience leading scientists or engineers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
