API Infrastructure Engineer - BA4

About the role

Barclays is looking for an experienced API Infrastructure Engineer (BA4) to design, build and maintain reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure platforms that support applications and data systems. The role involves applying software engineering techniques, automation and best‑practice incident response to ensure high availability of services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high‑quality infrastructure solutions using Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, EKS and related tools.
• Provide L2/L3 support for infrastructure and application stacks while driving automation, reliability (SRE) and release excellence.
• Build modern CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security controls and release automation.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Security, Platform and QA teams to deliver integrated digital solutions.
• Maintain compliance with enterprise security, risk, governance and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Deep experience in infrastructure engineering, including IaC, automation, design governance and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (EKS/Docker).
• Ability to manage incidents, problems and changes using ITIL‑aligned processes.
• Experience with API design, authentication, authorization and identity management.
