Analyst, Legal Counsel

About the role

The client, a leading global bank, is looking for an Analyst, Legal Counsel to join its Banking division in Mumbai. The role provides specialised legal support across corporate and investment banking activities, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation while supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, transaction support and risk management for corporate and investment banking products in India.
• Cover a range of financing solutions including project, aviation, acquisition, real‑estate, export‑credit, commodity, ESG finance and capital‑markets transactions such as syndicated loans and bonds.
• Liaise with clients, external counsel and other transaction parties, drafting and negotiating administrative, vendor and IT contracts.
• Collaborate with legal and functional teams in India and globally, acting as an independent guardian and trusted business partner.
• Monitor legal developments, brief senior legal management on material issues, and support group‑wide projects, litigation and local legal office coordination.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with proven experience in banking and finance law.
• Strong understanding of corporate banking, investment banking and capital‑markets regulations.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with a commercial mindset.
• Proactive, independent and able to work across multiple jurisdictions and teams.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and contract negotiation.
• Knowledge of banking, finance and capital‑markets legislation.
• Familiarity with ESG, project and commodity finance structures.
• Ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
