About the role
The Department of Animal and Avian Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park is hiring an Agricultural Worker II to support the Campus Farm. Reporting to the Farm Manager, the role involves hands‑on care of farm animals, maintenance of facilities and operation of farm equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide daily care for all animals housed on the Campus Farm.
- Maintain routine animal and equipment maintenance records.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery, tractors, skid‑loaders and power tools.
- Perform basic repairs to fences, barns and other farm structures.
- Clean and upkeep barns, pastures and turnouts.
- Assist with towing trailers and other farm transport tasks.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least two years of related agricultural work experience.
- Valid Maryland non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 50 lb to shoulder height and work in extreme weather conditions.
- Willingness to obtain certified operator status for nutrient management plans.
