Academic Head – International Curriculum

About the role

The Academic Head provides strategic academic leadership for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme and the Cambridge IGCSE. Reporting to the Principal, the role drives curriculum excellence, assessment quality and continuous improvement across all grade levels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, implementation and enhancement of IB PYP, MYP, DP and Cambridge IGCSE programmes.
• Monitor and maintain academic standards and consistency across grades.
• Ensure curriculum alignment, vertical articulation and smooth transitions between programmes.
• Oversee curriculum design, review and documentation in line with IB and Cambridge requirements.
• Implement assessment policies, analyse student data and drive improvement strategies.
• Guide departments in curriculum mapping, interdisciplinary learning and assessment moderation.
• Lead programme evaluation, accreditation and authorization processes.
• Identify professional development needs and organise training for staff.
• Support university and career readiness initiatives for IB DP students.
• Contribute to long‑term academic planning and school development.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Education or a related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE or equivalent).
• 10–15 years of teaching experience in international curricula.
• At least 5 years of academic leadership experience in IB and/or Cambridge schools.
• Deep knowledge of IB PYP, IB DP and Cambridge IGCSE frameworks.
• Experience with accreditation, authorization and programme evaluation.
