About the role
The Zonal Merchant Lead is responsible for driving merchant acquisition, activation and growth across a defined geographic circle. This role ensures strong brand visibility in the marketplace and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to meet business targets.
Key responsibilities
- Manage sales and distribution activities within the assigned circle.
- Acquire new merchants, both small and large‑format retailers.
- Leverage deep knowledge of local geography to optimise resource deployment.
- Activate merchants and ensure they are fully operational.
- Maintain brand visibility and market presence.
- Support cross‑functional teams to foster merchant business growth.
- Provide merchant servicing and relationship management.
- Plan and execute strategies to meet acquisition, activation, unique customer and throughput targets.
- Train, develop and mentor team leads and merchant executives.
- Coordinate with marketing, MIS and sales teams to secure necessary support.
- Monitor competition and develop winning market strategies.
Required profile
- Proven experience in sales and distribution management.
- Demonstrated success in merchant acquisition and activation.
- Strong understanding of the local geography and market dynamics.
- Ability to lead, train and mentor teams.
- Excellent coordination skills with cross‑functional functions.
- Strategic mindset for competition analysis and market planning.
