System Administrator (L2) – Windows Server & Hyper‑V

About the role

We are looking for an experienced L2 System Administrator to manage and optimise our Windows Server landscape, Hyper‑V clusters and related infrastructure. The role involves ensuring high availability, security compliance and performance of critical services.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022) – provisioning, monitoring, capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Hyper‑V failover clusters, including live and quick migrations and resource optimisation.
• Execute monthly OS patching and security updates using Cluster‑Aware Updating while minimising downtime.
• Manage networking components such as NIC teaming, virtual switches and ensure fault‑tolerant connectivity.
• Handle major incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and resolve performance issues using PerfMon, Event Viewer and other tools.
• Install, configure and harden IIS servers – enable HTTPS, disable weak ciphers, set request filtering and secure application pools.
• Plan and carry out physical server OS migrations, backup testing and rollback procedures.
• Configure secure file transfer solutions (FTP/SFTP) and enforce security protocols.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience with Windows Server administration and Hyper‑V clustering (L2 level).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure to meet SLA targets.
• Solid understanding of patch management, security hardening and vulnerability remediation.
• Experience with IIS administration and secure file transfer configurations.
• Good documentation and communication abilities.
