Staff System Engineer – Platform & AI

About the role

As a Systems & Platform Engineer at Coupang Internal, you will design and develop responsive applications, scalable APIs, and domain‑specific AI models while driving performance, reliability, and automation across the Global Operations Technology organization.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain a modern, responsive, high‑performance agentic operations platform.
• Design, develop, fine‑tune and optimize small language models for domain‑specific enterprise applications, ensuring low‑latency inference and edge deployment.
• Develop scalable RESTful APIs and backend services, integrating third‑party APIs securely.
• Design and maintain relational and NoSQL databases, implementing security, authentication and authorization.
• Monitor, benchmark and improve model efficiency, accuracy and scalability using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience in Python, React.js, NodeJS/NextJS and modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Tailwind, SCSS).
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Git, REST API design and data modelling.
• Hands‑on experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform) and shell scripting.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
