Staff Software Engineer – High‑Performance Distributed File Systems

About the role

DDN is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to drive the development of a high‑performance distributed file system. You will lead the design and implementation of core I/O infrastructure, work closely with globally distributed teams, and ensure the system meets extreme performance and reliability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize the core I/O infrastructure, including memory management, threading, task scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Architect scalable concurrency and synchronization mechanisms to achieve low latency and high throughput.
• Integrate and optimize SPDK within the I/O core for direct hardware access.
• Lead the full software development lifecycle from design through production support.
• Mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews, and influence architectural direction.

Required profile

• 10+ years of system software development experience, especially in storage and file‑system domains.
• Expert‑level proficiency in C/C++ and extensive Linux development background.
• Deep understanding of operating system principles, kernel architecture, and system internals.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineering teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
