Software Engineer - Java Spring Boot

About the role

Mastercard's Payments Network Technology team is looking for a Software Engineer to design, build, and support secure, scalable, and highly‑available payment‑network solutions. The role focuses on Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, event‑driven architecture and cloud‑native engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and support Java‑based microservices and REST APIs.
• Implement Kafka‑driven event integrations and apply SOLID and secure coding principles.
• Create unit, component, integration and regression tests; participate in peer reviews.
• Troubleshoot application, data, messaging, performance and production issues.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, resiliency and automation.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, testing, operations and other engineering teams.

Required profile

• Experience working in Agile delivery environments across the software development lifecycle.
• Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work with globally distributed product, engineering, architecture and operations teams.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude CLI.
• Payments or financial‑services domain knowledge is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
