Java Backend Developer – Payments (3-6 yrs) – Pune

Ready to take your career global? Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. We’re looking for a Software Engineer II (Java Backend Development) to join our Alternative Payment Methods team and help shape the future of global commerce.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, deploy, and run APM microservices and components.
• Contribute to component‑level design: data models, APIs, SLAs/SLOs, and integration patterns such as webhooks, polling, and async messaging.
• Deliver new non‑card payment integrations quickly by building adapters/connectors, mapping provider APIs, handling webhooks, and supporting local currencies and regulations.
• Work iteratively through provider sandboxes, certifications, and phased rollouts to accelerate launches.
• Participate in the on‑call rota, follow runbooks, and improve alerts, dashboards, and documentation.
• Add metrics, logs, and traces to monitor integration health and success rates.
• Take part in code and design reviews, adhering to secure, performant, and reliable coding practices.
• Collaborate with product, QA, SRE, compliance, and regional teams to meet launch dates.
• Triage and fix bugs, perform focused refactors, and reduce technical debt within components.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of software engineering experience (or equivalent).
• Proficient with Java, Spring Boot, and Docker.
• Test‑Driven Development is essential; strong automated testing (unit, integration, contract).
• Understanding of distributed systems and integrations: idempotency, retries/back‑off, timeouts, circuit breakers, partitioning, fault tolerance.
• Experience with CI/CD and release automation; GitHub‑based workflows.
• Comfortable with Agile delivery and continuous improvement.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal).
