Software Engineer III - Java AWS

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer III to join JPMorganChase’s Consumer and Community Banking technology team. In this role you will design, develop and maintain Java‑based backend services that power high‑volume transaction processing, leveraging AWS cloud services to ensure scalability, reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy secure, high‑quality Java backend services.
• Build and operate solutions on AWS (Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS/Fargate, EC2, Glue, Airflow).
• Use AI‑assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and code quality.
• Participate in design reviews with senior engineers and architects.
• Follow engineering best practices including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability and documentation.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical deliverables.
• Apply secure coding standards and support compliance with banking regulations.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience developing Java backend applications.
• Proven experience building distributed services on AWS.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.

• Java (object‑oriented design, common design patterns).
