Software Engineer III – Digital Experience (WordPress/E‑commerce)

About the role

Sandvik’s Intelligent Manufacturing division is looking for a Software Engineer III to lead the design and delivery of Mastercam’s customer‑facing WordPress e‑commerce platform. The role involves architecting complex solutions, building custom plugins, and integrating payment and fulfillment workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the e‑commerce solution within WordPress, including catalog, checkout, payment gateway integration and custom fulfillment workflows.
• Develop custom WordPress plugins, themes and extensions to meet business requirements not covered by existing tools.
• Create and maintain integrations between WordPress and internal or third‑party systems via APIs and data models.
• Maintain and improve the existing codebase, address technical debt, and evaluate new tools or platforms.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers and produce design documentation for distributed teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6‑9 years of web‑application development experience with strong PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS skills.
• 3+ years of e‑commerce development, including payment gateway integration and handling refunds, failures and reconciliations.
• Extensive experience building custom functionality on WordPress (plugins, themes, REST API, hooks/filters).
• Proven ability to design APIs, relational data models and deploy applications to cloud platforms.
