Software Engineer II

About the role

Google’s YouTube team is looking for a Software Engineer II to help build the next generation of products that empower billions of users to share stories, explore interests, and connect worldwide. You will work on high‑impact projects that span the full stack, from backend services to user‑facing features, in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write product or system development code for YouTube services.
• Review code authored by peers, ensuring adherence to style guidelines, testability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to documentation and educational content, updating it based on product changes and user feedback.
• Triage, debug, and resolve product or system issues, analyzing impacts on hardware, network, or service operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Preferred: Experience developing accessible technologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
