Software Engineer, Core

About the role

Google is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Core team, which builds the foundational platforms and infrastructure behind Google’s flagship products. You will work on large‑scale, data‑oriented systems that power billions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Write production‑grade code for products or system components.
• Participate in design reviews and help choose appropriate technologies.
• Review peer code, ensuring style, testability, efficiency and correctness.
• Maintain and enhance existing documentation and educational content.
• Debug, triage, and resolve product or system issues by analyzing root causes and impact.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience in Java, C++ or Python (or 1 year with an advanced degree).
• 2 years of experience with data‑oriented languages such as GoogleSQL, BigQuery SQL or standard SQL.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
