Software Engineer – Android Kotlin

About the role

HARMAN Automotive is looking for an experienced Android UI Developer to lead the creation of sophisticated user interfaces for Android Automotive OS applications. You will work closely with design, architecture, and product teams to deliver high‑quality, performant UI components using Jetpack Compose.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of complex UI components for Android Automotive OS using Jetpack Compose.
• Drive adoption of the MVVM architectural pattern and enforce best practices across the UI team.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, UI architects, and product owners to ensure technical feasibility and optimal user experience.
• Design and implement comprehensive unit and UI testing strategies with JUnit, Espresso, and Compose testing.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and UI/UX issues proactively.
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews and pair programming.

Required profile

• 3 to 6 years of Android application development experience, with a strong focus on UI.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Android development (3‑6 years)
• Kotlin (including Coroutines)
• Jetpack Compose (deep technical knowledge)
• Android Jetpack components – ViewModel, StateFlow/SharedFlow
• MVVM architectural pattern
• UI testing frameworks – JUnit, Espresso, Compose testing
• Figma toolchain for UI asset extraction (optional but beneficial)
