Snow Removal Vehicle Operator

About the role

We are seeking a seasonal Snow Removal Vehicle Operator to join the Division of Waste Collection & Disposal for the winter season starting June 2026. The role involves clearing highways and spreading salt, as well as supporting waste-collection operations across the City of Cleveland.

Key responsibilities

• Operate snow-removal equipment to clear roads and apply salt during winter conditions.
• Drive and maintain assigned snow-removal and waste-collection trucks, including dump trucks with hydraulic lifts.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance such as checking oil, tires, fuel levels, and packer blade operation.
• Load, unload, and compact waste materials using truck mechanisms.
• Maintain daily written records required by the Division.
• Follow city street routes safely and efficiently.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Type B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Good driving record; truck-driving experience preferred.

Required skills

• Operation of snow-removal equipment.
• Operation of waste-collection and dump trucks.
• Vehicle preventive maintenance.
• Hydraulic lift and transmission handling.
• Accurate record-keeping.
