Service Engineer – Maintenance

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Service Engineer to lead scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair activities for 4500 HP and 6000 HP locomotives. The role ensures work is completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standards while maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise maintenance, heavy‑maintenance and repair tasks for high‑power locomotives.
• Ensure adherence to work scopes, safety procedures and local regulations.
• Maintain clean, orderly work areas and promote a safe work environment.
• Document all activities accurately and manage cost and timeline performance.
• Coordinate with technicians to guarantee compliance with customer safety policies.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• 7–12 years of experience in locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance.
• Willingness to work 24 × 7 shift patterns.
• Ability to work in a shop environment and follow IT‑based monitoring systems.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office applications
• Technical knowledge of engines, bogies, brake systems, traction motors and control systems
• Fault analysis and troubleshooting of locomotive running gear
• Experience with IT systems for locomotive monitoring and maintenance
