Service Engineer – Locomotive Maintenance

About the role

Wabtec is seeking a Service Engineer to lead scheduled, unscheduled, heavy‑maintenance and wreck‑repair activities for 4500 HP and 6000 HP locomotives. The role ensures work is completed on time, within budget and to quality standards while maintaining all required documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise maintenance and repair tasks for high‑power locomotives.
• Ensure adherence to work scopes, safety policies and local regulations.
• Maintain clean, orderly shop areas and promote a safe work environment.
• Document all activities accurately and manage cost and timeline controls.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Engineering or relevant technical diploma.
• 7–12 years of experience in locomotive or rolling‑stock maintenance.
• Willingness to work 24 × 7 shift patterns.
• Ability to work in a shop environment and comply with safety standards.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office applications.
• Engine, bogie, brake‑system, traction‑motor and control‑system maintenance.
• Fault analysis and troubleshooting of locomotive systems.
• Use of IT tools for monitoring and maintaining locomotives.
