Server Administrator – IT Infrastructure

About the role

The IT Server Administrator is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining the server infrastructure that supports enterprise projects and operational technology environments. You will ensure high availability, security and optimal performance of Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms and specialised industrial systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain Windows and Linux server environments to meet project and organisational requirements.
• Administer VMware vSphere and Hyper‑V virtualization platforms, handling provisioning, clustering and high‑availability configurations.
• Install, configure and manage Redis clusters for caching and data‑storage solutions.
• Set up, manage and secure file servers (SMB/NFS) with proper permissions, quotas and backup/recovery processes.
• Support SCADA and ASRS systems, ensuring seamless integration with OT networks.
• Implement and maintain application and network load balancers (F5, NGINX, HAProxy, AWS ELB) for high‑availability services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on new projects, upgrades and migrations.
• Document system configurations, procedures and project deliverables.
• Monitor system health, performance and security; respond to incidents and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, industry standards and OT cybersecurity regulations.

Required profile

• Hands‑on expertise in server administration and project execution.
• Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
• Strong documentation and incident‑response skills.
• Understanding of compliance and cybersecurity requirements for OT environments.

Required skills

• Windows Server administration – installation, configuration, patching, Active Directory, Group Policy.
• Linux server administration – deployment, shell scripting, security hardening, performance tuning (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
• VMware vSphere and Hyper‑V virtualization – VM provisioning, clustering, HA, resource monitoring.
• Redis – installation, configuration, clustering, backup, performance optimisation.
• File server management – SMB, NFS, permissions, quotas, data protection.
• SCADA/OT systems – Modbus, OPC, cybersecurity best practices.
• ASRS technologies – integration with IT infrastructure.
• Load balancer configuration – F5, NGINX, HAProxy, AWS ELB.
• Project management fundamentals.
