Senior Web & Video Player Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a senior engineer to design, build and optimise web‑based video player solutions for browsers and Connected TV devices. The role is fully remote and part of Kake’s global community of senior engineers, working on high‑performance streaming experiences for leading brands.

Key responsibilities

• Design, architect and implement video player features for web and CTV platforms such as Chromecast, Xbox, Samsung Tizen, LG, Vizio and Comcast boxes.
• Develop and optimise player components using frameworks like Bitmovin, JW Player, HLS.js or Shaka.
• Troubleshoot playback issues including re‑buffering, latency and live‑stream challenges.
• Analyse QoE and performance metrics to improve real‑world playback quality.
• Contribute player code for React Native in multi‑device environments.
• Write automated unit and end‑to‑end tests and integrate RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams using agile methodologies.
• Document technical specifications and provide clear guidance for playback features.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional web development experience with deep expertise in JavaScript and video playback.
• Proven track record building and maintaining video players for web and Connected TV platforms.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for live‑stream performance, latency and DRM integration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced remote environment.
