Senior Tax Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Tax Consultant to provide expert advice on Indian direct and indirect tax matters for a range of law firms across major Indian cities. You will support clients on complex cross‑border transactions, restructurings, and day‑to‑day commercial arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on tax implications of domestic and international business operations, including withholding tax, permanent establishment, and transfer pricing.
• Prepare legal opinions, tax memoranda, technical notes, and client alerts on evolving tax legislation.
• Support M&A, private equity, venture capital, joint‑venture, and internal reorganisation transactions from a tax perspective, including due diligence and post‑closing integration.
• Draft appeals, objections, and other legal documents; represent clients before tax authorities and appellate tribunals.
• Conduct legal research on tax laws, judicial precedents, and regulatory updates.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Indian direct and indirect tax advisory.
• Strong understanding of cross‑border tax issues, tax treaties, and transfer pricing.
• Proven track record in tax litigation and representing clients before tax authorities.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
