Senior Staff Engineer – Rocket Growth (Backend)

About the role

Rocket Growth is the 2P marketplace at Coupang, focused on simplifying and reducing the cost of doing business for sellers. The Supply Chain team builds technology that lets sellers ship inventory to Coupang, which then handles fulfillment, returns, and resale. As a Senior Staff Engineer (Backend) you will lead the design of large‑scale distributed systems, set the technical north star for supply‑chain projects, and partner closely with product to shape what we build.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the highest quality of architecture and design of the system.
• Draw roadmaps and vision for scalable, robust product growth.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to make the platform open and extensible.
• Align with stakeholders and lead engineers on mission‑critical projects.
• Decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions.
• Leverage internal and industry best practices in design.
• Deep‑dive and handle critical system issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Minimum 12 years of software design and development experience in Java and Python.
• Proven track record designing and building large‑scale distributed systems in the supply‑chain domain.
• Extensive experience with large system architecture design and development.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud computing on AWS and container‑based testing environments.
