Senior Software Engineer – Industrial IoT & Edge Systems

About the role

Join Bosch Global Software Technologies as a Senior Software Engineer focused on Industrial IoT and edge computing. You will work on designing, evolving, and maintaining core OS platform capabilities that power reliable, high‑performance industrial solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve OS platform features using C++ on Ubuntu Linux, including Docker‑based packaging, deployment, runtime, and observability.
• Develop and integrate industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus (TCP/RTU), BACnet, and OPC UA, ensuring data quality, performance, and fault tolerance.
• Build software gateways and edge services that normalize, route, and convert data from heterogeneous industrial devices.
• Diagnose complex issues across applications, containers, networks, and third‑party components, driving root‑cause analysis and sustainable fixes.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, quality teams, and distributed engineering groups to deliver platform outcomes in an agile environment.
• Create architecture decisions, interface specifications, development standards, troubleshooting guidance, and customer‑facing technical documentation.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production‑grade software or platform components.
• Deep hands‑on expertise with Ubuntu Linux, including services, processes, filesystems, permissions, package management, logging, networking, and performance troubleshooting.
• Strong C++ development skills, including design, debugging, and maintenance of production systems.
• Extensive experience with Docker containers, Dockerfiles, image creation, Docker Compose, networking, storage, upgrades, and runtime troubleshooting.
