Senior Software Engineer – Database Development

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in database development to join its Pune engineering team. The role works within a globally distributed delivery model, collaborating with on‑shore teams to build and maintain high‑availability payment platforms in a SAFe‑aligned Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in SAFe Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with on‑shore engineers to deliver features, resolve defects and ensure seamless integration.
• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle‑based solutions across a multi‑technology stack.
• Provide production support for mission‑critical systems, ensuring performance, resilience and compliance.
• Drive automation, improve deployment pipelines and enhance database release processes.

Required profile

• Strong Oracle database development background with complex PL/SQL coding.
• Experience in SQL performance tuning, data modelling, migration, quality and ETL.
• Proven ability to support high‑volume, high‑availability production systems.
• Hands‑on experience with automated deployment pipelines and database releases.
• Effective communication and collaborative mindset across distributed teams.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum, preferably SAFe.
