Senior Software Engineer - Data + AI Observability

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Customer Foresight Team, you will lead the development of products that give customers insight into their AI and data workloads, help optimise performance and reduce costs, and support DevOps, FinOps, SecOps and AIOps activities at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Develop systems that provide reliable, timely observability interfaces for customers.
• Enable framework teams across Databricks to publish their data to customers easily.
• Lead major milestones on the observability roadmap and shape long‑term product vision.
• Mentor engineers and foster their career growth.
• Optimize scalability and cost of large data pipelines.
• Integrate with popular tools and services in the data‑warehousing ecosystem.

Required profile

• 6+ years of production‑level software engineering experience.
• Proven track record designing, building, deploying and operating large‑scale distributed systems.
• Strong platform mindset with experience delivering platforms for other teams.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills working with internal and external customers.

Required skills

• Java, Scala, Python, or C++.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with security, correctness, and operational excellence in software.
