Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About the role

Skillz is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive engineering‑led quality across its mobile eSports platform. The role focuses on reliability, scalability, and performance of products, directly influencing customer experience and release confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks for UI, API, and backend integration testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), optimize release gates, and reduce manual QA effort.
• Ensure test environment stability, manage test data, and minimize flaky tests.
• Conduct performance, load, and stress testing to identify bottlenecks and improve system scalability.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, DevOps/SRE teams, and leverage AI tools to enhance test design and failure analysis.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software quality engineering experience, including mentorship of SDETs.
• Proven ability to drive automation strategy and technical execution in complex, micro‑service architectures.
• Experience working with cloud environments, containers, and service dependencies.
• Strong background in performance testing and engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑driven testing tools such as Claude, Cursor, Copilot, and LLM‑based systems.
