Senior Software Developer – C++/MFC

About the role

Emerson is looking for a Senior Software Developer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance Windows desktop applications. You will work with a cross‑functional team to deliver reliable, scalable software using modern C++ techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain desktop applications using C++ and Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC).
• Implement efficient data structures and algorithms with the Standard Template Library (STL).
• Design multithreaded solutions to improve performance and responsiveness.
• Integrate software components using the Component Object Model (COM).
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimise applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Follow coding standards, maintain technical documentation, and participate in code reviews.
• Support additional tasks involving C#, NUnit testing, and network protocol debugging when required.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in C++ programming.
• Hands‑on experience with MFC for Windows desktop development.

• Experience with COM‑based development and integration.
• Familiarity with debugging tools and performance optimisation.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices.
• Version control experience with Git and/or SVN.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Additional experience with C#, NUnit, and network protocol debugging is a plus.
