Senior QA Automation Engineer

About the role

A technology-focused consulting firm is hiring a Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer in Bengaluru. The engineer designs, develops and maintains automated testing frameworks and test scripts for web and backend applications, combining manual and automation testing with functional, regression, integration and exploratory testing. The role works closely with Development, Product and DevOps teams to embed quality engineering in the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines, and includes mentoring junior QA engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse business, functional and technical requirements to identify testing needs.
• Design, document and execute test cases, scenarios and test plans, covering functional, regression, integration, exploratory and end-to-end testing.
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks, test suites and scripts for web and backend apps.
• Track defects through resolution using tools such as Jira, and collaborate with developers and product teams on quality issues.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and monitor test results to improve coverage and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, maintain QA documentation and test reports, and mentor junior QA engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• Proven experience designing and documenting test cases and scenarios, and hands-on experience in manual and automation testing.
• Experience testing web and backend applications, and mentoring junior QA engineers is an advantage.
• Ability to work with Development, Product, DevOps and other cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one test automation language such as Java, Python, JavaScript or C#.
• Working knowledge of automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright or Cypress.
• CI/CD and Git experience, and integration of tests into deployment workflows.
• Defect management tools such as Jira.
• Agile/Scrum experience is an advantage.
