Senior Power BI Migration Engineer (Tableau to Power BI)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Power BI Migration Engineer to support an enterprise‑scale Tableau‑to‑Power BI migration initiative. The role focuses primarily on Power BI (≈70 %) with some Tableau involvement, and requires deep expertise in Power BI, DAX, data modeling, Microsoft Fabric, Python, Databricks, APIs, and performance optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse existing Tableau dashboards, workbooks, data sources, calculations, filters, parameters and LOD expressions and translate them into scalable Power BI solutions.
• Design and develop enterprise‑grade Power BI reports, semantic models and advanced DAX calculations, including time‑intelligence, calculation groups and dynamic formatting.
• Build and optimise star‑schema data models, select appropriate storage modes (Import, DirectQuery, Composite) and implement performance techniques such as incremental refresh and aggregations.
• Develop and maintain Power BI solutions on Microsoft Fabric, integrating Lakehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2 and Databricks.
• Automate migration, validation and deployment tasks using Power BI REST APIs, Tableau APIs, Python and PowerShell.
• Implement security, governance and administration best‑practices, including Row‑Level and Object‑Level Security, workspace management and deployment pipelines.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers and liaise with business stakeholders to ensure functional parity and high‑quality delivery.

Required profile

• 5 + years of hands‑on experience in Power BI / enterprise BI analytics.
• Expert‑level DAX, data‑modeling and Power Query/M skills.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Tableau to Power BI migration or similar BI platform migrations.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex BI challenges and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
