Senior Network Engineer (System Manager)

About the role

Avaloq is seeking a Senior Network Engineer (System Manager) to design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, and highly available network infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud environments. The role owns network reliability, performance, and security for mission‑critical banking platforms while driving automation and standardisation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage enterprise network infrastructure across data‑center and cloud environments (Dev, Test, Prod).
• Design and implement scalable, secure network architectures on‑prem and in AWS/OCI.
• Configure and operate routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers and related services.
• Ensure high availability, performance and security through proactive monitoring, capacity planning and lifecycle management.
• Lead troubleshooting of complex incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and drive remediation.
• Automate network provisioning and operations using Ansible, Terraform and scripting (Python/Bash).

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering and operations.
• Strong expertise in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, TCP/IP).
• Hands‑on experience with firewalls, VPNs, network security controls and load balancing.
• Solid knowledge of cloud networking (AWS and/or OCI) and hybrid on‑prem/cloud environments.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Bash or Python.
