Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Traction Power Supply Systems

About the role

Siemens is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to develop traction power supply systems for railway electrification. The role is based in Pune and involves creating detailed mechanical designs that meet both customer specifications and Siemens standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical design drawings for DC switchgears and cubicles, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and international standards.
• Design switchgear components using the 3D‑CAD tool NX and produce accurate models.
• Maintain product data and documentation within Teamcenter.
• Develop conceptual solutions to meet challenging constructive requirements.
• Provide technical support and analyse problems in collaboration with manufacturing, project engineering and management teams.
• Plan and control engineering work packages with respect to schedule, cost and quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with switchgear and cubicle/cabinet (sheet‑metal) construction in the rail industry.
• Proficiency in NX or another solid‑modeling CAD tool.
• Knowledge of relevant European and International standards.
• Basic understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Proven experience in project realization, preferably in an international environment.
• Fluent verbal and written English.
