Senior Manager - Backend Engineering

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead a team of 8–10 engineers building next‑generation platform capabilities within Coupang’s transportation ecosystem. The role focuses on re‑architecting systems for global scalability, handling tens of millions of daily transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and grow a team of 8–10 engineers, setting high performance standards.
• Drive execution of a platform initiative to re‑architect transportation systems for global use cases.
• Break down complex problems into technical designs and execution plans, partnering with senior engineers.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery, ensuring efficient planning, tracking, and outcomes.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with global teams to align priorities and advance large‑scale initiatives.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in engineering management.
• Strong background in Java backend development and distributed systems.
• Experience managing teams of 10+ engineers through the full development lifecycle.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
