Senior Frontend Engineer – Onboarding & Activation

About the role

Bitwarden is the leading open‑source password‑management solution, helping individuals and enterprises secure their digital lives. The Onboarding & Activation team owns the user journey from first run to paying customer, delivering the guided setup, trial initiation, upgrade paywalls and subscription experiences. As a Senior Frontend Engineer you will build the high‑stakes, customer‑facing flows that shape first impressions and drive revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain guided‑setup and onboarding flows that help new users quickly realize value.
• Implement trial‑initiation, upgrade‑paywall, and subscription‑selection surfaces across web, browser extensions and desktop apps.
• Integrate Stripe Elements/SetupIntents and PayPal Braintree tokenization so raw payment data never touches Bitwarden servers.
• Create clean, reusable, Storybook‑documented Angular components and services within shared pricing and subscription libraries.
• Collaborate with product, design, security and the Billing team to ensure client‑side payment and plan surfaces stay consistent with back‑end contracts.

Required profile

• 6‑10 years of front‑end software engineering experience, capable of owning complex flows end‑to‑end.
• Strong expertise in a modern reactive component framework, preferably Angular with TypeScript and RxJS.
• Proven experience building correctness‑critical, form‑heavy transactional UIs, especially SaaS checkout or payment flows.
• Hands‑on experience with client‑side payment‑gateway integrations such as Stripe.js/Elements and PayPal via Braintree.
• Familiarity with modern Angular practices, front‑end testing, Storybook, accessibility and typed API consumption.
