Senior Financial Controller – US Accounting

About the role

The Senior Financial Controller will lead the full financial close process for US‑based reporting, ensuring accurate month‑end and year‑end results, compliance with US GAAP, and timely management reporting. This role partners closely with operations and business teams to drive cost control, budgeting insights, and finance automation.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end and year‑end close, accruals, financial statements, and forecasting.
• Ensure financial reporting complies with US GAAP and client requirements.
• Oversee revenue accounting, Joint Interest Billing (JIB), AFEs, DD&A, ARO, and asset impairment accounting.
• Design and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and governance frameworks.
• Lead external audit coordination and ensure timely audit closure.
• Monitor debt covenants, financing terms, and reporting obligations.
• Manage cash, banking relationships, treasury activities, and SOFR‑based credit facilities.
• Supervise hedge accounting and coordinate with counterparties.
• Identify and implement automation, standardisation, and reporting enhancements.
• Mentor and develop a team of 4‑5 finance professionals.

Required profile

• Qualified CA or CPA.
• 10‑12 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in US GAAP environments.
• Proven leadership experience managing small finance teams.
• Strong client‑facing communication skills.
