Senior Data Scientist – AI & ML

About the role

Flipkart’s Data Sciences team is looking for a senior data scientist to lead the research, development and deployment of advanced machine‑learning and statistical solutions that power India’s largest online marketplace. The role blends deep technical work with business impact, requiring close collaboration with product, engineering and finance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business and product requirements into end‑to‑end machine‑learning solutions.
• Design, implement and scale state‑of‑the‑art algorithms in deep learning, generative AI and statistical modeling.
• Conduct hypothesis‑driven research to uncover new value‑creation opportunities.
• Mentor junior data scientists and guide research projects toward publication.
• Stay current with emerging ML/AI trends and ensure their adoption across the organization.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align technical roadmaps with strategic goals.

Required profile

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in high‑growth technology environments, delivering measurable impact at million‑user scale.
• Proven ability to design organization‑wide data policies or shared ML platforms.
• Strong leadership and consensus‑building skills across engineering, product and finance.
