Senior Data Analyst III

About the role

As a Senior Data Analyst you will design, build, and maintain scalable, well‑governed data models that power analytics and reporting across Elsevier’s IT and multi‑cloud infrastructure estate. You will work at the intersection of analytics and data engineering, turning raw operational data into trusted, analytics‑ready datasets that support cloud efficiency, software asset insights, and other performance metrics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain modular data models using dbt to support analytics and reporting.
• Translate business and reporting requirements into reusable data models with clear metrics and logic.
• Implement data transformation best practices, including testing, documentation, and version control.
• Collaborate with data engineers to ensure reliable ingestion, schema evolution, and data quality controls.
• Partner with analysts to enable high‑quality dashboarding through well‑structured datasets.
• Perform data profiling, validation, and root‑cause analysis to improve data quality.
• Lead analytics initiatives end‑to‑end, from discovery through release and user support.
• Participate in technical design discussions and influence architectural decisions in the analytics stack.

Required profile

• Significant experience in analytics engineering, data transformation, or modern BI engineering roles.
• Advanced SQL expertise, including performance optimization and complex transformation logic.
• Experience building and maintaining data models with dbt in production.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
• Experience working with cloud data warehouses, preferably Snowflake.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, semantic layers, and metric standardisation.
• Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
