Senior Control & Protection System Application Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Control & Protection System Application Engineer to lead the design, implementation and optimisation of HVDC control and protection solutions. You will work closely with customers, internal teams and junior engineers to deliver reliable, high‑performance systems that meet grid stability requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of HVDC control & protection system development, from requirements gathering to design, testing and deployment.
• Conduct engineering design reviews, approve technical documents and ensure compliance with standards.
• Model HVDC plants using electromagnetic transient tools such as PSCAD and EMTP‑RV, and verify designs with MATLAB simulations.
• Perform Dynamic Performance Studies and tune control and protection parameters to meet customer specifications.
• Support tendering, operations, contractual and after‑sales activities, providing technical guidance to moderate‑complexity projects.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, define technical strategies and contribute to talent development within the department.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineer with extensive experience in HVDC control and protection systems.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects with moderate autonomy.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, capable of identifying risks and proposing reliable solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and training.
