Senior Business Controller – Assets Lead (Oil & Gas)

About the role

The Assets Lead / Business Controller is a senior finance leadership position supporting a performance unit that drives major growth projects and oil & gas production. You will partner with joint‑venture partners, auditors, government bodies and internal teams to improve performance and enable strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering high‑quality internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Shell’s control framework.
• Oversee monthly performance reporting, latest estimates, quarterly updates and business monitoring.
• Ensure timely statutory, group, regulatory and joint‑venture reporting.
• Provide financial insight for business planning and strategic decisions.
• Apply IFRS and Group reporting standards, handling material events such as impairments, decommissioning provisions, M&A.
• Conduct P&L, balance‑sheet and cash‑flow reviews to identify risks and value‑creation opportunities.
• Manage key asset‑finance processes including Value of Work Done, expenditure approvals, cost & capex reporting, and manual journal entries.
• Drive working‑capital performance by reviewing receivables, payables and inventory.

Required profile

• Senior finance professional with strong technical capability and commercial insight.
• Proven ability to lead people, influence stakeholders and drive change in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in oil & gas or energy‑related finance, including joint‑venture accounting and audit coordination.
