Senior Avionics Software Developer

About the role

Airbus is seeking a Senior Avionics Software Developer to lead the design and implementation of safety‑critical real‑time embedded software for avionics applications. The role involves full‑stack development from high‑level requirements through to certification under DO‑178C, while providing technical leadership to the team.

Key responsibilities

• Spearhead requirement engineering: gather, analyse and document software requirements.
• Understand and evolve the global software architecture (static & dynamic).
• Create high‑level and low‑level designs using HOOD, class definitions and UML diagrams.
• Perform coding, debugging and build generation efficiently.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and verification teams to resolve complex technical issues.
• Troubleshoot issues identified during system testing.
• Mentor junior team members and develop their competencies.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers, partners and peers.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in the full software lifecycle for avionics, including requirements definition, design, coding and unit verification.
• Proven ability to work with global, multi‑site teams and handle complex technical challenges.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace standards and certification processes.

Required skills

• Embedded software requirements engineering and architecture (static & dynamic).
• Design and development of algorithms, interfaces, schedulers, abstraction layers and modularisation.
• Embedded programming in C, C++ and ADA.
• Unit testing and configuration/change management.
• Experience with RTOS (including A653‑compliant) and DO‑178C standards.
• Familiarity with certification audits and software development life‑cycle processes.
